Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES – Duties may include:

  1.  Apply resins and waxes to mold surfaces to facilitate assembly and removal of laminated parts
  2. Apply layers of resin to mold surfaces prior to placement of fiberglass mats, repeating layers until product has desired thicknesses and plastics have hardened
  3. Work with templates/patterns to conform with dimension  data and/or customer specifications
  4. Check completed products for conformance to specifics
  5. Inspect, clean and assembly as needed
  6. Mix catalyst into resins, use rollers, brushes and other hand tools to smooth fiberglass
  7. Pat or press layers of saturated mat or cloth into place on molds, using brushes or hands, smooth out wrinkles and air bubbles with hands or rollers
  8. Release air bubbles and smooth seams using rollers
  9. Repair or modify damaged or defective parts, check thicknesses, density and contours to ensure proper fit.
  10. Spray chopped fiberglass, resin and catalyst onto prepared molds using pneumatic spray guns with chopper attachments.
  11. Trim cured materials using saws with diamond impregnated cutoff wheels
  12. Trim excess materials from molds, using hand sheers or trimming knives

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

This employee may required to have a high school diploma or GED.  In additions, this employee may be required to participate in annual training for Hazardous Waste Recycling and fire safety.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

This employee needs the ability to read and verbally communicate in English.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to fingers.  Lifting is not a major factor in this job.  This job may bring employee in contact with hazardous chemicals and fumes.  For this reason, respirator certification is optional.
